SameCell Announces Upgrades to it's Proximity Sharing Service with support for Facebook®, iPhone® and SMS Capable Phones
Proximity sharing and mobility extensions enable broader participation in location aware social networking
Toronto, Ontario – January 21, 2008 – SameCell Inc., an innovator in the emerging field of Mobile Social
Networking and Location Based Services today announced support for additional mobile devices including the Apple iPhone, Apple iPod Touch®, phones using SMS
and a social networking extension that runs within the Facebook environment.
To support this broader range of devices and user models, SameCell has expanded it's core location and proximity matching technologies. SameCell proximity matching servers can now accept cell tower data, GPS-based coordinates, SMS text-based updates and pre-defined facebook status updates.
This new offering compliments the existing SameCell for BlackBerry application launched in September. SameCell users will now be able to include and network with the growing Facebook community of over 50 million users. The SameCell for Facebook application leverages Facebook Groups to promote making new friends by meeting people nearby who have common interests.
The new release also brings upgrades to the existing BlackBerry application. BlackBerry users with GPS will now have the option of defining a 1 mile range for proximity alerts in addition to the current choices from 3 to 30 miles. The BlackBerry application automatically synchronizes with the Facebook application for those who use both.
