Location-Based Social Networking

SameCell Location-Based Social Networking is a Fun, Free and Simple to use BlackBerry application that scans an area up to 30 miles in every direction to let you know Who's Nearby and What's Happening around you.

Unlike other location-based search sites and buddy finders, SameCell for BlackBerry® is fully automatic. It tells you where your friends are right now, not two hours ago. Simply add friends to your list, choose the types of places and events you're interested in, and SameCell alerts you whenever it finds nearby matches.

Robust privacy controls enable a full range of location sharing options and our interactive features let you share places and same-time events with friends and other SameCell users.

Friends

The Friends tabs contains a list of your SameCell friends. Scroll your trackball up or down to select a friend. With the selection box on a friend, click your spacebar to enable/disable proximity sharing with that friend. You can change the proximity range by scrolling your trackball left or right. Click on the menu button and choose edit to go to the friend edit screen.

Places

Similar to the way SameCell scans an area looking for nearby friends, the Places feature automatically scans for nearby places that have been tagged by other SameCell users. You can also invoke on-demand searches to find nearby places and services.

Events

The Events feature follows the same proximity alert process as Friends and Places, but with the following differences; Events are defined as same-time same-place occurances and as a result must expire within a fairly short period of time. For example, When a SameCell user creates an event of type "Traffic Alert" or "Radar Speed Trap", other SameCell users will only be alerted if they fall within a short proximity of that area within the next 30 minutes.

                        

Sending an Event Alert is quick and easy; Simply select a category, choose whether or not to remain anonymous and type in a text description. Your current location will automatically be saved as the location of the event.
